The Office of Privacy at WashU provides guidance and resources to help navigate regulatory obligations, University policies, procedures, and ethical principles pertaining to use of personal data. We aim to support mission-driven activities, uphold the University’s core values, and support and enhance a culture of compliance and ethics.

The Office of Privacy also advises on state, federal, and international requirements regarding the protection of personal information, and use of such information in keeping with ethical standards and the unique demands of an academic environment.  We collaborate closely with departments across the University, including the HIPAA Privacy Office, the Office of the General Counsel, and the Information Security Office to address data privacy concerns and to safeguard personal information held at the University.
